ATEX regulations apply to all workplaces in which flammable liquids, gases or dust can create an explosive air mixture.
According to the ATEX regulations, an employer must:

• prepare and maintain an explosion protection document.
The regulations have also applied to existing production plants since 1 July 2006. Compliance is supervised by the Safety Technology Authority as well as rescue and occupational safety authorities.
