Property-specific collection of metal packages can be easily arranged. Especially condominium properties tend to generate enough small metal waste to motivate getting a dedicated collection container. Sorting metal packages and other reusable waste into their own collection bins will reduce waste management costs, as the amount of expensive mixed waste is decreased. The number of properties in the Helsinki area who have ordered a separate collection service for small metal already amounts to 1,500. There are also public collection points for disposal of metal packages in the Helsinki area. YTV is renovating its collection point system to include metal collection. YTV is also receiving metal waste at its Sortti Recycling Stations.
Please see the below list of collection points jointly maintained by the metal packaging recovery organisation Mepak-Kierrätys Oy and L&T. These collection points are so-called observation points, and metal package recovery and recycling will be developed further based experience gained at these. This network will be replaced by property-specific collection and small metal collection bins, which will become more frequent as a result of YTV’s collection point renovation.
Metal collection points can also be found in many shopping malls and shops, which are not listed below.
