L&T is a significant supplier of renewable fuels. L&T fuels are used to replace coal, oil and peat at industrial power plants, for example. The supply of fuels helps L&T’s customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions through the reduced use of fossil fuels made possible by renewable fuels.
L&T fuels are produced from various kinds of by-products and waste materials sorted at origin. The main raw material for wood-based biofuels consists of by-products from the forest industry. Commercial and industrial waste sorted at origin is processed into recovered fuel that is 60 to 80 per cent renewable thanks to its fibre-based raw material.
