Sewers require regular maintenance
Wastewater sewers are only intended to convey wastewater. Even when correctly used, all sewers need regular maintenance. Regular cleaning of the sewer system ensures the functionality of sewers and extends the system’s service life. The recommended interval for cleaning a sewer system is approximately five years, depending on the type of business operations. The condition of the sewer should be investigated by imaging with a robot camera.
In addition to normal maintenance, L&T’s professionals can help you with sewer imaging and pipe condition assessment. We will investigate the functional condition and any structural faults in your sewer. The tightness of the sewer can also be investigated by means of a smoke test. This will confirm the need for sewer renovation and enables a survey of the applicability of different alternative repair methods.
Grease traps
Grease traps are used to separate grease from wastewater. Trap operation is based on the fact that grease is lighter than water and rises to the surface of the fluid contained in the trap.
Our maintenance service for grease traps consists of emptying the grease container in accordance with the size and usage of the trap. The trap should be completely emptied, cleaned and inspected at five-year intervals.
Sand separator channels
Sand separator channels separate sand, sludge and solids from washing water. Sand separator channels are used particularly at locations where vehicles are washed, as pre-processing before the actual separator system.
Maintenance of the channels consists of emptying as they become full.
Sand separators
Sand separators separate sand, sludge and solids from rainwater and washing water before the water is conveyed to an oil trap. This ensures flawless operation of the oil traps and reduces the costs of maintaining the oil traps. Sand separator maintenance consists of emptying the sand from the container in accordance with the size and usage of the separator.
The separator should be completely emptied, cleaned and inspected at five-year intervals.
Oil traps
Oil traps separate oil from wastewater. The trap operates on the basis of density differences between water and oil, and separation is achieved by gravity.
The operation of the trap must be regularly monitored. The surface layer must be emptied at least annually. Any coalescing units or filters in the traps must be cleaned at least annually. The trap should be completely emptied, cleaned and inspected at five-year intervals.
Underdrains
The purpose of underdrains is to keep the foundations dry. Underdrains should be monitored and maintained regularly.
