Wastewater sewers are only intended to convey wastewater. The only things that you should put in the drain in addition to bodily wastes are toilet paper and washing water. Materials that do not belong to the drain may cause annoying sewer blockages. Their removal is unnecessary and expensive work. They can also be easily prevented in advance.
Even when correctly used, all sewers need regular maintenance. Regular cleaning of the sewer system ensures the functionality of sewers and extends the system’s service life. The condition of the sewer should be investigated by imaging with a robot camera.
In addition to normal maintenance, L&T’s professionals can help you with sewer imaging and pipe condition assessment. This will confirm the need for any sewer renovation and enables a survey of the applicability of different alternative repair methods.
Place a waste bin in the bathroom
Cigarette butts, matches, toothpicks, sanitary pads, cotton sticks, condoms and other solid matter do not belong to the drain. Hair and dental floss may also cause problems in pipelines.
Food waste does not belong to the drain
Frying fat and food waste do not belong to the drain.
Fat will solidify in the pipelines and gradually cause sewer blockage. Putting food waste into the toilet bowl will also provide sewer rats with good living conditions and breeding opportunities. Put frying fats in a capped bottle and place them in mixed waste, food leftovers in biowaste.
Hazardous waste to appropriate collection
You must not put waste oil, solvents, medicines or other hazardous waste into the drain. These substances may cause problems in the biological wastewater treatment process. Take them to hazardous waste collection.
Sewer blockages shall be cleared and washed
When a sewer becomes blocked, the blockage can be cleared by high-pressure water or by mechanical cleaning. The best result is achieved by clearing the blockage and cleaning the entire sewer line with water pressure. If blockage reoccurs soon or if a fault is suspected in the sewer, the inside of the pipe should be imaged with a robot camera. In addition to this, the tightness of the sewer can be investigated by means of a smoke test. Contact L&T to investigate the functional condition and any structural faults in your sewer.
