Good team spirit shows at work

”We have a variety of activities from sports to various social events and cultural activities. It is our goal to offer something interesting and inspiring to everyone,” says Sanna-Leena Purhola, chairwoman of the Hämeelinna staff club.

Members of the Hämeenlinna staff club obtain exercise coupons and tickets for the indoor swimming pools in Hämeenlinna and Riihimäki. Participation in spectator sports is encouraged as well: there are always two seats reserved for club members at HPK home games.

”We have regular reservations for badminton and glow-in-the-dark bowling. We have organised trips to the theatre, cruises and common get-togethers. During sport-themed events we introduce new sports. We have always had an amazing time at all the events,” Sanna-Leena explains.

The club comprises around 90 members from various fields and personnel groups; around a third actively participate in the events. ”Our area is rather large. The staff club provides an opportunity to become acquinted with L&T personnel working in other areas or product fields. I have noticed at the Hämeenlinna office that team spirit and openness have markedly increased as people have begun to associate with their co-workers in their free time as well. Moreover, team work has become easier than before.”

Sanna-Leena works an administrative supervisor in the property management department. ”I started the club since I want to get things done instead of waiting for someone else to do them. Exercise is important to me, and it helps me through the work day, so I like to encourage others to exercise as well.”

”In the club council we plan our activities, and are grateful for wishes and new ideas from club members. We inform everyone of the activities by email and notices on our noticeboards. I wish for everyone inspire more people to join. Common activities create a bond!”
