We work as a team

”We both are committed to our work and employer. Our thought process is very similar: if problems occur, we start thinking about how to solve them,” say chief communications officer Riikka Kuivisto and her subordinate and co-worker, service supervisor Hilkka Aalto-Kolehmainen from Jyväskylä.

”Hilkka is my righ-hand woman. We work in close partnership. We visit places together and separately, and at least speak on the phone on a daily basis. We discuss development needs and plan schedules. This is how we effect progress with regard to matters,” says Riikka.

”Our area runs the gamut of cleaning customers: from repair shops to public administration and even home cleaning. The work is variable, interesting and challenging. I enjoy it all; this is definitely my thing. The positive feedback from co-workers and customers inspires me,” she continues.

”We are a company in which people generally help and support each other. We solve problems together. We work in teams a great deal. On the other hand, cleaners are more independent and responsible for their work than previously. This all shows in unit profits as well as occupational well-being,” say the women.

Riikka and Hilkka consider L&T to be a safe employer. The work is inspiring, and you have a chance of influencing your own work.

”This business provides a good fit for young people and people changing occupations. There is plenty of work, and L&T provides opportunities for promotion. Many have started as cleaners and climbed the ladder to become service directors and supervisors. The company also supports studies besides work,” says Hilkka. She had her own start with L&T as a cleaner, but is currently a service supervisor who also works in training and acts as a substitute for the administrative manager.
