L&T’s product development endeavours to create new service products to meet the needs of different customer groups. Sales Manager Mika Kuronen actively monitors and supports the design of the service concepts, because he then has the task of introducing these new concepts forward to sales and production.
“My position is new, which affords me the opportunity to affect the development of my job description. I primarily steer and supervise the sales of our service concepts, but I also occasionally accompany a salesperson on a customer visit. I also personally handle several shopping centre customers in order to maintain my practical sales skills. Travel is an integral part of this type of work, since one can only see how the new service models are being received by actually being present in the field,” Mika states.
Mika’s career at L&T began with a position as sales consultant working in trade services. He applied to work for L&T on the recommendation of a friend who was already working for the company. His friend explained that L&T values hard work and that the job offers plenty of challenges for anyone who wants them.
Mika feels that a closed sale is the best reward for one’s hard work and success, because, from time to time, sales work is quite challenging and you have to have the ability to inspire yourself. A salesperson must be have the drive and be ready to get in there and get dirty. Humility is also important; one must actively sit down with the customers and interest them in L&T’s concepts. L&T is well-known as a company name, but its services are continuously developing.
“The fact that companies can acquire, for example, cleaning and property maintenance services as a single service package and not as separate services is a new concept for the customers, the sales personnel and the service providers. It is quite a challenge, since adapting to change takes time and requires adjustments. Whenever I am able to get the sales team fired up and to help the customer to understand the new approach, the feeling is highly rewarding,” states Mika.
